Great! Added to my purchase list. I already liked the Stanley Clarke stuff with Billy Cobham. Thanks, man!

Dandolin wrote:Just finished watching "I Called Him Morgan" - great jazz documentary, if you ever get the chance (it's on Netflix). At one point they show an excerpt from the PBS tv show "Soul." Sadly, I can't find that online, but the song they included was Jymie Merritt's "Angela" and that's on "The Last Session."

Very nice lineup w/ Lee, Bily Harper, Grachan, Jymie, Bobbi Humphrey, Harold Mabern, Reggie Workman, and Freddie Waits:

I just watched that movie too! that same moment of the doc, they overlay a quote about how Morgan doesn't consider his music jazz. I've heard loosely the same quote from John Coltrane and Miles Davis.

I also really loved this track

Schweet - love Bill Dixon

Also love Ted Curson, though he's the only trumpet on here (and it's a piccolo :omg: ) :

Also, chromandre, the Lighthouse album is aces - musically, Lee went out on a high note.

'Chasing Trane: The John Coltrane Documentary' which is also on Netflix right now flashes multiple shots of Lee with his Dizzy-fied trumpet from the 'Blue Train' sessions, a great meet-up though they were on variant tangents that just happened to touch that once....

Today I heard Herbie Hancock's "Head Hunters" for the first time (I went to the library a few days ago and came home with dozens of Jazz CDs). I immediately loved the first track "Chameleon":
