I actually really like the vocals though. However, if you don't like them I think they are a lot less offensive in Obscure Verse of the Multiverse because all the reverb and delay makes it less dry (obviously) and pushes them back in the mix a bit. So Space Mummy > Regular Mummy.

The Iron Reagan clips and that Crucial Unit one are fucking rad

Played a show with these guys last year and they were ridiculous. The fact that they're all younger than me (I think the drummer is like 17?) makes my shred game cry.

Edit: I have failed to understand posting youtube links on this board.

Noisem is fucking tight, they're from nearby and live with a friend of mine and they're always incredible

Also adding Full Of Hell because other badass MD bands that shred

This may require a dedicated thread of its own, possibly over in gear, but I can move it over there if people would prefer.
I was just thinking about shred toanz, and was wondering what ILF metal heads/shredders prefer for their own personal face melting.
Do you like clear, searing high gain?
Those wooly early HoF sounds?
Maybe surprisingly low gain vintage sounds, a la recent Opeth?
Perhaps you just use that fuzz regardless?
Are you black metalling, tin can styles?
What do you guys do for going fast and heavy?

RAT+Muff into a cranked V4. I use a tele with a mini humbucker for guitar. Fuzz for the slow parts. Bass is usually a P Bass into the same V4+an 810 with the same pedals.

Sounds rad. Do you use the RAT to shape the Muff or to boost it?

Curious about mini humbers for the heavies as well. I've never played them but I see a few getting around.

Tbh I love the sound of humbuckers into a digitech death metal.

But that's kind of instant gratification. And it works ok live, but you can disappear in the mix. A lot of bands I've seen
Suffer from this as soon as the blasting starts.

So my actual favourite sound is low output, bright single coil into the Elements. Led clipping. Gain just a hair less than "oh wow this feels awesome". So if you're really picking fast and efficiently it cleans up a bit, and to get the brutal chunk you have to belt the fuck out of the strings.

I've been doing this through a jazz chorus recently with a fuck ton of mids and it sounds insane. Makes my black metal riffs sound pretty nasty.

Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier. Only a Whetstone and Dispatch Master in front. Everything else in the loop. I'm currently in the "anti-clean boost" in front camp. A minority I know.
Co-guitarist plays a 5150. Also "anti-clean boost" camp. He does the shredding. I play cool riffs sometimes.

On my Boogie I have the treble set to zero but bring the treble in with the Presence knob. Works perfectly to take any of the fizz out. Really, really happy with my toanz. Playing out of a 2x12 and a 4x10.

But we're not super br00tal or anything. We take a good deal from the doom camp and the post metal camp.
