They're good records, they're just not great. Like, good sex is still sex, but it's not great sex. You know?

Also, I have a DVD that came with SFTD that has some live footage of Ghrol/Homme/Oliveri/TVL/Lanagan. Far and away their best lineup:

Eddie Vedder guests on cowbell for "Little Sister" at Lollapalooza. It's no Will Ferrell but it's gonna have to do....

Yeah, I can understand and agree with that reasoning. And yeah, I love the DVDs they include with releases, forgot about that one honestly. Have to pop it in sometime soon. :thumb:

Holy Schnikes wrote:{dave} performed on the SFTD recording, not sure he toured with 'em tho, don't think so. I saw the SFTD tour in ST.L and Joey Castillo (former Danzig drummer) was already in the band. It was only announced recently that Joey had "quit", not sure what really happened there. Can't imagine he willingly walked away, who knows....

I saw them with Grohl on drums on the SFTD tour at TLA in Philly (Nick on bass, Alainne on guitar, Dave Catching on slide, Natasha on keys, Lanegan on vox). It was very early in the tour so I don't think he hung around long, wouldn't be surprised if Joey was already tapped for the role at the time. But it ROCKED. I'm so into this band. I liked EV and lullabies as well but I agree the Queens lost an edge when Nick got the boot. Still love 'em though and the new track.

Heard My God is the Sun last night on the radio. It was ok. I've never been a huuuge QOTSA fan, but I love Songs for the Deaf, and I'm always kind of skeptical of bands who disappear then reappear, so I'm pretty unimpressed and thinking "meh" right now.

I was also lucky enough to see them with Grohl on drums, think they called it the "Secret Club tour" or something, like 12 or 13 dates in the summer of 2002.
I stood next to a few chicks who asked me "We're here to see Dave, is this band any good?"
I'm a big qotsa fan and think all of the records have worthwhile stuff on them...but the first 3 are definitely special. I think Nick O himself called them "Queens Lite" after hearing Lullabies...pretty much sums it up.
I do dig the new song, sounds like we're going in the right direction.
Special low-frequency version.

I still refuse to even listen to any new QOTSA in protest for them letting the walking pile of scum back into the fold.

What, Nick? He's not listed on the current album credits that I saw...

Just read that the full song is 6:00. Nick apparently makes some kind of appearance on the album...

I'm cautiously optimistic. That first song has really grown on me.
