Where can I find updates/recordings of this? I'm in love with this idea.
Thanks man. I'm not familiar with ANS machine. Facebook https://www.facebook.com/ritesofconversion is where we generally post things. Right now we are trying to figure out the best way to capture these experiences. We've had four of these so far, with the intentions of having twelve total (1 per month), and perform a thirteenth capstone at a gallery opening.
The ANS machine is/was a Soviet synthesizer that plays back sound based on etches made onto glass plates that it reads. Sort of a player piano setup, but it will "play" things that look like this, which is where I drew the association:

Now THAT sounds amazing!
It's been a fun and sometimes challenging project. Each experience is so unique. The artist feeds the sounds and the soundscapes lead him on his path. The last performance has been the best so far. We collaborated with a local drone band and set up an intimate space.... it was probably one of the best things I've ever taken part in.
My band just did a public access show and i kind of fucked up the chorus on the first song, but the set turned out great and it has such a good "tim and eric" public access vibe to the video they put together (live direct to tape!) that I'm in love with it.
