The guitar is very close to dry to try and highlight the sound of the pickups. There are obvious changes in sound as I use the tone knob and pickup selector.

Collings 360 LT M with 2 Lollar gold foil pickups into the clean channel of an Audio Kitchen The Big Trees and then direct into Ableton Live. A touch of reverb from Altiverb and some low end roll-off and high end cut from DMG eq were used. The loop was played back by a Revolver DX.

The overall vibe is sparse, melancholy downtempo:

This one is heavyish melodic synth music. Somewhat ambient, but I went for more movement.
The track is composed of software synths played with my Jamstik+, drums are the Garageband iOS drummer, which is "meh" but I composed this during my lunch breaks for about a week...

I love this! Great work as always (I have listened to your previous material but never commented). Stuff like this makes me want to hit the 'record' button more often.
I've had enough of summer. Looking forward to listening to your albums in the winter. I love the cohesive aesthetic!

This is the first song from my upcoming ambient release under the moniker, Gerald Fjord. It's got everything from guitars and pedals to eurorack to a cassette synth running through a Binson Echorec. Hope you enjoy!

I'd forgotten, soundcloud doesn't allow BBC embeds anymore (or at the least phpBB doesn't allow it from their end).

No I haven't come across him before, that was good stuff, I done stuff pretty similar in the past, I use to more into doing atonal stuff, still enjoy it :thumb: you can do a lot with a bow, and using the stick side give you some really creepy sounds. I... Guess if you are not intending on using the thing on the instrument it is intended for your reasoning for getting a violin, cello or bass bow is the width of the ribbon, a bass bow is like two to three times as wide as a violin bow :idk: (both the bows he used in the vid are bass bows, the difference is one is a French grip and the other is a German) then there is the rosin thing.. I'd say cello rosin is your middle... Between powdery to sticky and you will need it if you actually want to make more than wooshing sounds :hobbes:

I was at this for a bit! It was weird, like listening to Penderecki in slow motion underwater or something, really, really dense and swarming. Poland is really particularly great for that stuff; being able to go and see weirdo yass bands whenever you want is pretty neat.

All this bass heavy ambient stuff reminds me of this I did a while ago, which I made to see if it would help my fiance sleep: https://soundcloud.com/barewireson/rndc ... 28/s-CRi5A
It's just guitar, reverb and delay, recommend the dark, and headphones are a must.
