Collings 360 LT M with 2 Lollar gold foil pickups into the clean channel of an Audio Kitchen The Big Trees and then direct into Ableton Live. A touch of reverb from Altiverb and some low end roll-off and high end cut from DMG eq were used. The loop was played back by a Revolver DX.
The overall vibe is sparse, melancholy downtempo:

(both the bows he used in the vid are bass bows, the difference is one is a French grip and the other is a German) then there is the rosin thing.. I'd say cello rosin is your middle... Between powdery to sticky and you will need it if you actually want to make more than wooshing sounds
