bob's loops (updated 9/18)

Post by dubkitty »

this is what i sounded like last night at around 11:00. Tokai Les Paul on everything with RV-3 and Ghost Echo. the long lead notes are a Tone Reaper through an EB volume pedal, as are their accompanying choirs of overtones; the fluttering arpeggiated sequenced sounds are moving chord voicings through the Pleasure Trem 5000->EMMA envelope filter set to sweep down with the width at 2:00 and the attack about 10:00; the bass is the guitar->Octave Multiplexer clean. all looped into Head Rush E2->PodXT as USB audio interface->G4 PowerBook w/Audacity. we hope you like it.

(note: revised version uploaded; edited in Peak to remove that cyclical click that annoyed me so much, and to fix a transfer glitch at ~3:10. the original link still works.)

i will do. now that i can run straight into the Mac via the Pod, i can do extended loop sequences...i really like the process of gradually accreting small pieces of information into a composition. the thing i really like about this loop, which provoked me to finally get it together to download the Pod drivers while the loop was still on the Head Rush, is the kind of country-shoegaze feeling it has, kind of Jimmy Webb Slowdive. at one point last night i was playing String Ensemble lines on the keyboard along with it for the full "Wichita Lineman."

I like it a lot! Reminds me a lot of some Berlin-era Bowie like Moss Garden off Heroes, not really in the way it sounds, just the atmosphere somehow.

The non-trem'd part reminds me a whole lot of Boards of Canada.

And I like Boards of Canada.
