Taking gear in/out of the city...

Well, my experimental improv trio thing just got an offer to do a gig in NYC. I'm not sure whether to go for it because I don't know how to cart the equipment back and forth. Bus won't work. I'm not a fan of driving in the city...but if that's the only option...(Still I am wary about carrying amps and cabs multiple blocks)

But I know other bands do it all the time, so I'm probably overlooking somthing obvious. How we do?
