Pirates Press seems to get a lot of love pretty unreservedly.

What size album is this, 12"? And this is Weary Heads?

I could have sworn that it was WeHuntKings who started this thread.

He runs a label an is regularly getting stuff pressed.
I can't remeber who he uses but I think he said he has been using the same mob for a while.

i've used United a bunch of times. there were a few minor issues involving fucked up test pressings that they were bitchy about fixing, but in the end they made everything right.
our current label uses RTI. everything has gone smoothly with them, so far.

If you can get in, use RTI (California) or QRP (Salina, Kansas)...

Universal isn't taking any new business for a while as they get their second plant online and their quality is hit or miss, particularly with small labels/quantities.

Would recommend clear vinyl or at least a portion to be colored for marketability purposes, numbering the edition would also be a plus.

I'm branching out to a start a label with a former Hydra Head guy, but I'm not sure how fast that will be operational.

i had mine done locally by Musicol. nice old guy who double checked my mastering since it does change when pressed. they did a good job.

re regular black vinyl v coloured vinyl, there was a widely-spread notion in the 1980s that picture discs and coloured vinyl rendered a worse audio signal than regular black vinyl. i never found out if that was true but it was often said.
i used to have the fall's 'hex enduction hour' and 'room to live' lps on white vinyl (german pressing) and whenever i got them out audiophilies in the room would always shake their heads and tut about the white vinyl 'sounding terrible'.
to be honest, with the fall it could have been recorded on sandpaper and still worked, but that thing about regular and coloured vinyl may be worth investigating if you are hoping to sell to vinyl audiophiles.

We are waiting for our records right now. We ended up going with Pirates Press. We have a few other band friends getting stuff pressed at other plants and we sent ours off later than them and are scheduled to get ours before them. They have been great with customer service and so far everything has gone perfect.
