Anyone mention the Landgaff MO’D which is a modded rat. A guy let me borrow his years ago and it sounded really good.

I sold my rat a while ago, no, I traded it for a Minifooger Ring Mod which was a solid trade, but I’m kind of thinking about another rat. Maybe a Turbo Rat? I don’t care if it has the right chip, I just want it to look and sound like shit.... I’m old fashioned that way....

Pretty hot custom Soothsayer:

I want to be inside that and have it inside me at the same time.
_____________

That guy makes a pretty incredible russian/sovtek Green Muff clone too.

The ARC Big Green is based on skullservant's original. :D

Also, don't think anybody's mentioned this one yet:

I had a You Dirty Rat several years ago and liked it a lot. I think I only sold it to be able to buy something else. I used it going into a Bass Big Muff.

So, a couple of years ago, I bought a madebymike modded Rat clone from a fellow poster on Shortscale.org. I love this pedal so much.

I've been through several dirt pedals, but this stays around. Very versatile. According to the previous owner, it has the Ruetz bass mod and diode/LED switch (which takes it from a rat to a turbo rat). And of course the LM308N.

I just got this and I like it a lot. Very touch sensitive and rolls off great. Love the soft switch. Wish more builders did that. Pricey though:

Soft switch just adds parts to fail that aren't simple mechanical switches.. I mean sure they are cool and all, but it's not a deal breaker for Me ;)

Not to be all 'oooh la la' but does that bad boy have the Op07 or the 308?

Mechanical switches have a much higher failure rate than relay/misc soft touch switch circuits and replacing them is often a bigger pain in the ass than repairing soft touch switch circuits. :poke:

From a manufacturers standpoint I can see that argument. From a fix it yourself standpoint, you just need a solder sucker. Most soft touch that i have seen will have a relay in them anyway and those are a mechanical device too, controlled by a 4018 or whatever everyone is doing now.

I think by repair a soft touch, they just swap out the whole board.

Not sure which op amp, haven't opened it up yet.

I play jazz/free improv and if you'e playing with horns and acoustic instruments in the same room with no headphones it's a PITA to remove pedal clicks on recordings. Trust me.

Haven't yet have a soft switch fail. It's just lazy for builders to not use them. There have been great advances.

Relays are waaaaaaaay more reliable than the latching 3pdt stomp switches. They're rated to a couple orders of magnitude more cycles, I've seen numbers like 1*10^7 cycles. The momentary stomp switches are also way more reliable I think.

How do y'all like to set your Rats. I've been digging vol and filter all the way up, gain to taste but usually around 10:00. Gives a great distortion tone that cleans up beautifully with the guitar volume.

Filter at noon, gain at 10:30 o'clock and volume a little over unity.
