Do I need to get DoS in here?

I think there are most likely quite a few superior alternatives if you're looking to do that sort of thing. If it's on the post-recording end, maybe look into something stereo? I just think that the Colour Box, like pedal compressors, sounds pretty great on instruments but probably pales in comparison to much more proper studio tools that cost a couple thousand bucks.
It'd be a bit more than the CB used, but maybe something stereo like the Analog Heat would be fun for adding a little warmth to recordings, or toasting em all to hell. On the cheap end, you can get a vintage Shure M67 and add some fun analog color to stuff. Really tons of other options out there, so make sure to explore before you spend money on ol' Josh Scott n' co.
Also, I will say again that the Broadcast is fucking awesome and anyone who's been thinking of buying one should definitely do so
