i guess I'm not as impressed by the 11 as i might have hoped. there's something weird about the sounds that it's hard for me to describe...they sound crude to me, not a good lo-fi kind of crude but rather like the parameters haven't been tweaked as subtly as is true of more boutiquey reverbs. the reverse setting pales compared to my Alesis Midiverb II, and that thing is like 25 years old!

I mean...it's EHX. Their effects have always been good enough but not super amazing.

Also, imo, Rupert's demos suck and always have.

Except for, like, you know, making a bunch of effects other companies have built a career off cloning. Other than that though... :picard:

That EHX demo.... Sometimes I think they intentionally only market to 40 year olds. Wicked Game??!! The obligatory Pink Floyd bit, something that sounds like a 90s kids cartoon theme and a bunch of 80s solos. Absolute pish.

What pedals of theirs do you think were improved? I think there are a lot of clones of big muffs they don't make anymore but they're still compared to the originals in demos as the standard. I haven't found anyone who makes a flanger as good as the original electric mistress and all the clones fall short. Not to mention no one has come close to the poly chorus, poly phase, small stone, or original POG.

Most big muffs with mids control > og big muff. :idk:

Besides, you're bringing in their classic designs, whereas the original comment dealt with their new designs which have all been half baked, in my opinion. I feel that EHX always gets so close to making absolute bangers but always misses that one crucial step in the base design that derails the whole thing. Look at the super Pulsar, it has every feature that I could ever want in a trem, but then the tremolo part itself just sounds like shit. The Canyon I feel also suffers from the same problem.

I'm in my 40s and no sale. I could cope with the kitsch (though it didn't help matters), but those sounds are just bad. And while the performance features are pretty cool as far as they go, no stereo, no presets, no MIDI . . . and the sounds are bad.

Reading is FUNdamental yo. I agree the new stuff hasn't been the best. The reissue muffs sound great though. Anyway not trying to argue on the internet really. Already spent too much energy on this for my tastes haha, :idk:
