If anyone gets one of these and an Orange Omec in the same purchase, let us know before you plug them in. We will remember you as a hero.

Meanwhile, on the cheap end of the spectrum, the bargain Chinese brands I was snapping up a year ago keep getting fancier:

I never knew I wanted an Oboe simulator pedal until just now. These are almost as good as the EHX April Fool's bagpipe pedal, but they're real... :joy:

I've seen those. Unfortunately Aural Dream consistently gets 1* reviews on Amazon, and I don't think the newest stuff is on YouTube. They probably all sound similar---which is to say they sound like really harsh knockoffs of the Mel9.

As far as fancy Chinese pedals, this is probably one of the most feature-packed ones that I've seen recently. For $90, I could see a determined builder modding and rehousing it.

Interested, but my interest is tempered by my experience with the Aural Dream Detune, which, while producing a sweet lofi glitch delay, also produces a heinous volume drop. Although maybe I could use it to offset the the equalling heinous volume boost of the Mooer Reverie Chorus and Reverb. Maybe this explains why I was able to pick them up used for so cheap

Yeah, I didn't find anything on youtube either... though when there is, it'll probably just be all guitar stuff anyway. (Whereas I wanna know: flute sim pedal + cheap keyboard = ???)

I remain curious, mostly because obviously I don't need pedals like this to be "good" (or sound like whatever they're supposed to be replicating) so much as make some cool sounds.

I'm really curious if there was a focus group somewhere telling them they really wanted their guitars to sound like clarinet/oboe/flute.

I don't have any of the newer Aural Dreams, but I have the Breath Delay, which is a decent $30 delay, plus it has a toggle to send stuff into self-oscillation.

Interesting... I haven't seen an "original" of those... given that it looks like CNZ is just re-branding the Rowin/Donner/Eno/Mooer stuff (though their markup is much more reasonable than some I've seen) there oughtta be a Donner/Rowin/Ammoon version of that kicking around.

I do have a stereo looper in that same enclosure that works pretty well, and seems to be really solidly built. (Actually about to post something with that pedal in the tabletop gear thread.)

The AA.1 has been available to buy from Strymon for some time. It’s fucked, though, because if you intend to use it as an fx loop for your eurorack and a Strymon pedal like El Capistan, then the ins and outs are backwards... 1/4” L/R outs have to go into a TRS for the pedal input, then the L/R outs from the pedal have to get back into a TRS for the AA.1 input... :picard:

Damn this looks interesting. I've always been into mathematical divisions and sequencing. This reminds me, conceptually, of the Bastl BitRanger but with those beautiful Moog sounds I love so much.
