History of all the Big Muff Variations

Postby mattpas » Sun Oct 01, 2017 2:10 pm

I hope this is OK to post.
Nothing here is for sale, just information.

For those of you interested, I have been collecting and cataloging all of the different variations of the Big Muff for years and I will be making one of every schematic of the Big Muff that I have from 1969-1984 plus the Russians.
There are over a 100 to do and I will be writing a blog about each one, what makes them special and what they sound like.
At the end there will be an online video comparing the best ones from each year.
You can find the blog here:
https://www.stompunderfoot.com/suf-blog.html
I hope you enjoy it.
I place, solder and wire every part.

Badass dude. The world cannot ever have enough big muff. It's been proven. I love schematics personally so I'm excited to see your stuff and compare to Kit Rae's

Is that 2247 the "47" we all know?

Found this only:

I’m about to get a stomp under foot 2247, which, should be a reissue of a 73′ Big Muff (2247 nickname is because it got sold on ebay for 2.247$ :/)

It has been a while since I have come across a Big Muff that I haven’t seen before but I found a Triangle made with Germanium Diodes.
After careful examination, this is definitely all original.
I will be making one up and comparing it with the original and posting my findings.

If anyone out there has an original Triangle or Ram’s Head, I would appreciate some gut shots of it.
If it turns out your pedal is one I have never seen before, when I make one for my blog I will make you one as well at no cost.

Let me say that yes this project is absolutely dope as hell, and the 47 is by far my favorite.

I just added a blog post on the rare, 1972 Triangle that I recently found.
What makes it so special… germanium diodes.
Read all about it here:

It took a while but the 1974 Ram's Head pedals are up on the blog:

https://stompunderfoot.wordpress.com/20 ... ff-pedals/

These are some of the most overlooked versions.

After reading about them let me know what you think.
