cheaper, smaller loot yummers deaktop synth?

Postby behndy » Wed Nov 02, 2016 9:04 pm

like, i LOVE the Audiothingies MicroMonsta. but he's out of stock, should be ready sometime in November?

but.... anything similar i'm sleeping on?

want a synth to complement beats from the Electribe, good polyphony, decent amount of voices, need it to be a smaller box (i am SO limited on space right now), don't care about a builtin keyboard.... dunno.

good stuff? wassat?

(kinda want a MicroKorg or MicroXL?)

Depends entirely what you make I guess, but i can think of a few options:
Pocket piano
An SK-1/5 or VSS-30 given that you find one at a decent price and like lofi sounds
Any synth+effects will sound like a trillion dolla$. Don't know what pedals you have, but I could fart in a microphone and run it through my eventide space and people would think it was a Nord synth
Waldorf Blofeld if you can handle menu diving, the other waldorfs can be okay too, if you like the sound of them

Wasn't there a Volca Wave leak (or photoshop troll) a few days ago ?

If it turns out to be true, that could be a very nice choice too (a small wavetable synth with the Volca's nice sequencer/tricks could be super fun and useful)...

Edit : looked at the images again, it does look a bit shopped to me (one of the knobs seems shifty as fuck) but I'm not really an expert at pixels.

One of the korg reps said that it was a shop.

Those were cool mockups! A volca wave- wow! All i can say at this point is that we are listening to users and we are definitely hoping to expand the Volca line :)

Tatsuya, who leads that team, has a lot of say in which volcas come next. We take a lot of factors into consideration, including which volcas we think people would most like to create cool music with.

urf. i tried to like the Volcas. i need me some save spots.

and mebbe this is stupid, but the cheap plastic bothers the hell out of me.

hurrrrrrm. the SK-1/5 and VSS-30 are interesting, but think a more modern, smaller footprint fits what i'm going for?

lol, i seriously have SO little space to work with..

thanks for suggestions! RARRRRRRRR.

I'll just use this thread to mention that you guys with anime avatars confuse the fuck out of me. I always think it's the same dude and then I look at the username and my brains complains a bit.

Hibike! Euphonium brothers unite. Don't worry the new season of anime will start soon enough which means another avatar change.

Thinking of small, desktop polyphonic synths for a cheap price is hard here. What is cheap for you? Like, Minilogue price/size? (Why not a Minilogue? Fucked around with one and had a lot of fun with it.)

Why not VSTs until the Monsta is ready to ship in a month?

Are you already using a tablet? Animoog is one of the most unique, most customizable, and most portable synth engines available. There are sounds inside it that you couldn't get out of a $3,000 synth. It's also one of the most fun instruments you'll ever interact with.

Yeah, true the iPad platform is a great music platform.

Maybe if you're looking at a Microkorg look at the Yamaha reface stuff as well?

was trying to stay around 3 hundy? Minilogue seems neat, i'm pretty up on Korg's loot, was trawwwwling to see if there's any little gems i am sleeping on.

jia. i use Komplete. love it. and i think i'll still want to mix hard synths and soft synths. but i wanted a little hardware synth box so i could isolate drum bits or synth bits going into a little pedal effects loop i have set up.
