I just spent several hours tinkering with contents of the Idiotbox tourbox using various guitars.
Whores Fuzz Freq: More interesting than anticipated. All sorts of evil and grating textures are possible with modest amounts of gain. I prefer the fixed filter in the pre-fuzz position and bet this would sound decent with bass. The filter also interacted well with other tourbox pedals.
PowerBoost: This was my first Colorsound Overdriver experience. It is kind of anemic sounding as a stand-alone gain source and excels at boosting other tourbox contents and Marshall-type amp models on my Amplifire. It brought the djent when used in conjunction with the Landphill and an 8-string guitar.
Static Fuzz: Probably my favorite of the four pedals. Numerous online demos showcase its higer gain capabilities, so I was surprised to discover what is possible near minimum gain. There's a sweet spot right around zero gain where white noise bleeds through at full volume if the white noise knob is set beyond 12:00. The resulting ambience is eerie and pairs well with vibrato and subtle glitching.
Landphill: Definitely a bass pedal, but works decently with a guitar, too. It belts forth old-school thrash, is pretty scooped overall, and seems like a Rat/Marshall hybrid preamp. There's more than enough gain on tap (ranging from chimey overdrive to hyper saturated fuzz), and treble frequencies have to be adjusted carefully for the best results with guitar.
Though my current level of musical inspiration and songwriting focus is limited, I'll make a concerted effort to record something in the next few days.
