Timebender Appreciation Thread!

Post by Cody_Pole »

So I've had one and stupidly sold it due to my issues with multi feature delays and recently lucked into getting another for a crazy good price, when I initially had one I never used it to its maximum potential which is also another reason why I flipped it so I'd like to hear from other current/previous owners about it!

Love the Timebender. I'm surprised it's still one of the only harmonizing delays out there.

Then, I found out about the arpeggiator. Even better. It satisfied my desire for a pitchfactor/h9 (way more expensive).

I can't believe I found out about it so late. Was it too ahead of its time? Would it have sold better if it had come out more recently? Does anyone know what the list price was? Seems like with weirder and more boutique pedals coming out there's more of a market now.

Oh also, didn't use the presets in the beginning, but that and the BPM toggle has been a LIFESAVER for playing live with my band.

Yeah, I really need someone to sell me on this thing. Love the Pitchfactor, but it's too annoying to use a lot of the time. Had the H9, too, but hated the interface and flipped it (for another PF).

Will the Timebender do what I want? All I really used on the PF/H9 were Harpeggiator and...Quadravox? Can it get close enough?

I wish I could find an allen wrench the right size to pop this open and install a boost circuit on the output.

DigiTechRep if you read this, what size allen wrench are the screws?

How do you guys read threads on ILF without tripping over "oh my god I love the Timebender", "Yeah the timebender can do that", "there is nothing more telling about the modern state of guitar economics that when we released a pedal that did everything anyone ever asked for no one bought it but as soon as we discontinued it everyone started bothering us for the features that it had that our new pedals don't" and the like?
good deals are here.

Yeah I know, lately I've been revisiting pedals I initially wrote off as being too complicated or one's I couldn't jive with soundwise. Sometimes I just need to hear how somebody used a pedal and got this sound to reinspire me to give it another try!

Present!! Just to remove any doubt if I'm a hipster fuck or not: I bought them before they were cool

Seriously, it's my favorite pedal ever.

Regarding the pitchfactor thing (own both): unless pitchfactor is you main thing then it will get you there somewhat. Obviously no quardravox, very different arpeggiator (although the TB does it, envelope mode has random arpeggiator last 8 voicings) and no midi/less powerful expression jacks. The sound of the pitches are really nice and lofi and one of my favorite sounds in the world tbh. In the end they are both of course very different. But you could probably get most of you pitch shifting needs done by the TB. But then again, why not both :idk:

It's so random. It was the second delay I ever bought, the first being a mooer reecho...

I found out about it way too late. Turned out my roommate had one.

"Hey, did you know that thing has harmonizing delays??"
"Oh yeah it does a ton of stuff. You can even program a delay rhythm."
"Do you use that a lot?"
"No. I kind of just use it as a standard delay."
"...can I buy it from you then?"

I lived with him for almost two years before that conversation happened. I don't understand how.

The expression control on the TB is the tits. Kind of like the lexicon vortex how it morphs between settings. Having the toe up be a longer modulated delay and the toe down be a short wildly oscillating delay = a lot of fun.

That's how I was using my last one.

Sorry Dabbler of Sorceries, but i love the Timebender. Also, your last quote is super true. I got on the timebender train way after its discontinuation, but i also wasn't buying many pedals when it came out. Now i wish i could just have two and never want another delay. Ever. Again. But for real, i, personally, don't envision wanting anything from a delay that the Timebender/Particle combo can't offer. I guess maybe the absurd glitched out 10+ second delays of the Judder could be cool in some context that i'm not doing. Its arpeggiations and harmonies are really cool. I like playing a simple melody with lots of breathing room into its multi tap with the two different pitch shifts and getting weirder 3 note arpeggio melodies out the other side.
