I really enjoyed that video and am really wanting to buy a couple singing bowls now.

^^^You and me both. I'm going to some antique stores that may or may not have some this weekend. I'm looking for bells and chimes too. My offer on a pedal was declined so in my head that means the funds I offered is now my budget for this kind of thing

If I go down this journey I would like to cite Ugly Nora and LUSSURIA as my sole sources of inspiration.

EDIT: As an addendum, I am fully aware I will not find quartz singing bowls for a price that is encompassed in my modest allocated budget.

Yeah I was doing a quick search through amazon and those get really expensive, really quickly. There's a store a few minutes from my house that I know has a few small ones and I know of a couple "spiritual" stores around that may carry them as well. I may go take a look this week.

I've been focusing a lot of my playing on the Koma Field Kit, contact mics, and a couple delays and reverbs. It's been really fun and a singing bowl would expand that nicely

By all means, buy the crystal bowls if that is what you prefer, but please note that metal bowls have a more complex sound with multiple overtones. I would think that would be more desirable for you if making music. The crystal ones only play one sound at a time and thus probably explains their popularity with the healing crowd, as they can target specific tones correlated to certain body parts more easily.

Not sure about Mr. November but I am 2poor4crystal. I'm going the whatever I can find route provided 1. Cheap 2. Space efficient (I can't be buying giant bowls).

Multiple overtones are preferable. Anything with strange harmonics is always preferable.

Also, I'm trying to avoid finding these online. Going for the hunt.

Check out http://bestsingingbowls.com

That's where I got mine. Each bowl has multiple pics and sound samples being played with multiple types of strikers. Very good descriptions including how good the rim playing is, the notes, the Hz, the overtone notes etc. So, you really know what you are getting. He will also answer questions and test certain bowls for specific questions you have. Recommended.

I am definitely too poor and likely too clumsy for crystal. It definitely sounds like the multiple overtones and harmonics of metal would suit me better

There's some great ones on that link I provided. I was just listening to some and I kinda want to pick one up, but i am in money saving mode for the next 5 years.

Yeah I listened to quite a few of then last night and I am very tempted. They're still pretty far outside my budget for this kind of thing though. Probably just going to pick up a shitty modern one locally for like $20CAD to scratch my itch until I can justify a good one
