I've been flippy-flopping between Plaits and another Mangrove for my next oscillator...

Plaits has more colors, yet Mangrove is more minimal.

Whereas Plaits is gaudy, Mangrove is quite humble.

Mangrove can sound like a man because formants, but Plaits does not sound like a braid.

Plaits has more algorithms, so Mangrove is simpler.

Mangrove costs 284, but Plaits costs 259.

Plaits is the spiritual successor to a classic module, whereas Mangrove "holds the essence of an instrument in the form of an oscillator."

If Mangrove were a computer, it would be an Apple computer whereas if Plaits were a computer it would be a PC.

Likewise, if Mangrove were a fashion it would be a designer fashion whereas Plaits could be found in the mall.

To conclude, :idk:

I am letting go of a Metasonix S-1000 Wretch Machine. Yes, it isn’t cheap but I am willing to let it go for relatively cheap.

Perfect. And completely accurate.

To me, Plaits would be Chord mode, occasionally a kick drum and maybe the 2-op FM. All useful.

On the other hand, having multiple of the same oscillators helps everything sound more cohesive.

So yeah... :idk:

Am I crazy to want to trade my Plaits for a Just Friends or maybe a Mangrove? Which would you go for?

Note, I'm building a 60hp mini-rack to go along with a Mother 32. At the moment, I have it setup with Batumi, Samara, Qu Mult, Plaits, Links, Chronoblob, and Sewastopol.

Is it a straight trade 1:1? Because Just Friends is significantly more expensive than a Mangrove or Plaits.

No, money aside, I'd expect plus or minus cash or other stuff in any trade. Just looking at functions and what each module would add to the setup.

All of you guys are trying to get rid of your Plaits while I'm waiting on my pre-order to be fulfilled. It's killing me.

Honestly, not sure if I want to get rid of mine. I do really like it, but my overall goals have drastically changed recently
