also, SCM is fucking BOSS. only used a bit before, i'm going through all my stuff and seeing what's defo keepers, needs more time in, not something i gibe with and am going to list if MUFFS EVER COMES BACK I MISS YOU MUFFFFFFFFFFFS (O&C, Variatic Erumption, PitsMod LPG, Clouds, Jupiter Storm, Galilean Moons, Trigger Riot, Pulsar are for the listings, MAYBE 4 Vox and Metropolis) and mannnnnnnnnn i am loving it. Trigger Riot is so GOOD, but SCM is what i use it for pretty much but a little more immediate for that specific use?

Okay so I need some advice. There's an auction for a DIY case that ends in 4 hours. I've resigned myself to buy a case this weekend.
My current Modulargrid setup is for 104hp 6U, but the case on eBay is 84hp 9U so it's even larger. However the power supply doesn't give out *too* much more than what my consumption on ModularGrid is listed as.
However, I found a Mantis 104hp w more power (but no extra space to plug in the beepbloops) for only $45 more.
Which would y'all do?

Auction:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/CUSTOM-powered- ... SwEUVZYlF2

Mantis case:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tiptop-Audio-Ma ... Swc1FZw98w

Does the Mantis have all the power cables I'd need? Do the ribbons on modules just plug straight into that board?

associated acts:
Raab Zamboni (fake jazz/real noise//sax, modular synth, editing, misc) || Field Guide (my best friends//sax on 2 tracks)

I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!

I was going to go with a Mantis but got a used Intellijel 7u 84hp case instead. Aluminum case with a lid. Also has Midi and1/4" Ins/Outs mounted to the case that will hook up to their 1U modules, which seem to be priced pretty well. This way I can run 2 effects loops for patches in the case. Instead of drenching everything in reverb/delay. But, if your going to get a clouds or an outboard mixer that probably doesn't matter. I just wanted to spend my money on stuff I didn't have for now. So I can figure out what the hell I'm doing first. Then eventually move towards putting something bigger together when I have my tastes/style figured out.

Okay so I broke my "no Euro til I sell guitars" pledge & bought Just Friends, Cold Mac, Mangrove, and a Mantis case on credit. Hopefully a guitar sells sometime soon lolol. It's not much but it should be a great start.
My next haul (after I can pay this one back) is gonna be the Tempi, Telharmonic, Modemix, and Wogglebug. Combined with the Mescaline, 0-coast, and Field Kit, that should give me a pretty fully formed setup with very little left unaccounted for.

Sounds like a good start!

Anyone here have experience with Verbos or Random*Source stuff? Pros/cons?
The Serge and Buchla stuff in Euro seems very appealing.

I've never tried any Verbos, but god damn that harmonic oscillator looks so good! Most of their offerings though seem to be just a little HP chubby, but also look damn sexy.

Heading to the synth store right now to *maybe* get some new cases, as a birthday gift to myself (in a few days).
I've been searchin' for the dolphins in the sea.

so good! CASES FOREVER!!

hah. thought my SCM was buggered a bit because it kept occasionally playing with Mute on on the Breakout. it's cause i had an LFO going into the Rotate and forgot. durpy durp.

soooooooooo....... hellza excited for this new case. i think i've got my head around how i want to use things. makes me all the wigglins to get things setup. still need to grab a few things, but. yeah. YEAH.

would ideally like to get down to pretty much just this 12u case, then if i want more, if i still have this 6u Structure case, use that, if not grab another DNGR if i lurv it.

....... is it stupid that after i get Other Things i want to rebuy then sell off this SCM and Breakout so i have a cleaner version? i also would rather have the v2 push button over the switches on the Breakout.

Took a long hard look at the Verbs RNG module buy ultimately it was too redundant with what I already had and way too much HP for something I wound up replicating with the Brain seed.
good deals are here.

I've only built the Haible Dual WASP so far but that thing is one nasty motherfucker. Want to try building much more of their stuff.

also, woot! my uCoulds should be here in the next day or two.

the Instruo one just looked like a wayyyyyy better layout.

and apparently a bunch of Muffies (well, mostly one guy) got all pissy with him about whether he released the design properly since it's open source. on the FB page.

i didn't think open source meant you had to release any schematics? just any alterations you did to the code?

also, got a Cloud Morphing Terrarium incoming. kinda want to list the 4 Vox to help pay for other things, not sure though. i DO like it, and they're a bit hard to find. but i never use more than one osc at a time, so it's kinda wasted on me?

DILEMMA.
