My biggest problem with flippers is not that they're capitalizing on the stupidity and impulsiveness of people with too much dough. My problem is the idiotic window dressing. It's the used car salesman sleaze which is just completely avoidable.

Not everybody in America's cat has fucking AIDS. I'm so sick of people acting like they bought a hot ticket item and *bam* tragedy struck. No, you bought it and now you want a payoff. (that doesn't bother me) Just describe the item, like a store would and publish your listing. All this fucking nonsense about faux tragedy and your first world struggles are pointless. ---Being an opportunist doesn't necessarily make you an asshole, but spinning unnecessary lies does.

When I flip things for profit, I don't put any spin on it. I just post it with the details. I don't really care what people think about why I'm selling something, and they almost never ask.

Someone on the r/funko was complaining that someone posted 5 or 6 of the same figure on facebook for a bulk markup and made some excuse about needing to buy that many to make sure they got one mint. Just making resellers look bad, person.

This Planet Money podcast episode about drop shipping explains part of why the flipping economy works on the internet: http://www.npr.org/sections/money/2016/09/14/493810206/episode-724-cat-scam

Looks like someone saw Erics FB post on pricing of the new drone commander pedals and decided to flip for as much as possible

I mean, that's not as bad as it could be. I'd ask for 600. :)

I got super lucky a couple times and bought crazy cheap shit that I didn't end up liking, then sold it for more than I paid--usually just what they were going for, or a couple bucks cheaper. So I turned some cheap junk into some really nice junk over the course of four or five months.

$30 Rocktron Hush > traded for Boss TR-2 > traded for SFX-07 > Sold for $90 > bought MuRF for $150. That's a MuRF for a total of $90.

Am I an accidental flipper? Does this make me an asshole? A thought experiment.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

Pro flipping rant shuttered below if anyone cares to read.

NSFW: show
We don't like if someone sells a used Generation Loss for $350, but it's completely fine for someone to sell an 80s Rat for around the same price.

Flipper, collector, reseller, asshole, hobbyist, merchant, wizard, fairy

What's the difference?

I say, if you give a friend, fellow ILFer, etc. a good deal, you're a pal and a credit to the geek community.

If you sell something to a stranger for less than it's worth, you're a sucker in my book. Or maybe desperate. Or just uneducated. All are ok, they don't make you a bad person, or less than me.

Some people look at someone who purchases something specifically or partially for the purpose of profiting with little effort on their own part as dirty, sleezy, evil, lazy, dumb, etc.

But if a small or large company does it, that's just business. It's not personal.

So if I get together with 5 other people and help my friend buy and flip Yeezys, are we a small business then? Is that far enough down the spectrum?

If you get mad because you miss out on or can't afford something limited that you want, I understand and empathize.
If flipping isn't for you, all the better for me.
If your beef is with capitalism, we can have a pleasant conversation.

If you Other me or anyone else for practicing in general, I get the instinct, but I think it's a flawed one.

I dunno. Whatever.

Now, look at this beauty

I've never heard of these before, but a little research has me interested. Not that I need another amp.

Especially with a Jensen...

Look Chank, it's purple:

(... and, apparently, $5 more than another listing for the same item the seller previously ended.)
